CMYK Calligraphy Series. Since 2018
Original calligraphy style which highlights the amazing overlapping effects of transparent inks. Enjoying and celebrating 3 kinds of shapes — the form of a stroke, the white counterform, and the intersecting shape appearing purple, orange or green.
CMYK are colours used in print: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and blacK — their mixture and intersection produce the whole palette of colours in print.
Vera experiments with CMYK colours in calligraphy, making a bunch of graphic design history reminiscences meet the movement, vividness and irregularity of calligraphy.
Balancing and controlling 3 levels of shapes simultaneously: they are — the shape of the stroke, the counterform which appears between brush strokes, and the third and new for me is the shape of intersections. The process is fun and I feel there's a lot to explore further.
I can see my CMYK calligraphy on book covers, posters, and fabric designs — feel free to contact me for collaborations➳
