Conceived and designed in 2006, Iona pixel type is a brave interpretation of the very early Cyrillic type from the Ostrog Bible, printed by Ivan Fyodorov in 1581.
In this experimental design Vera is mixing two strong and different messages of absolutely distant cultural phenomena: 14-century Cyrillic type and round pixels LED matrix display — e.g. religious style of Poluustav letters and display technologies, twinkling lights of the contemporary night cities.
Iona font contrasts and unites these two different phenomena, making Poluustav enter such an unusual environment.
It can be a tool for postmodernist messages, as well as it is a message itself.
