Amalta typeface was designed by Vera Evstafieva in 2010, it became a winner in prestigious TDC2 competition in 2011 and Modern Cyrillic contest in 2014.

Amalta was conceived on the basis of Vera’s own calligraphic style, written with the flat brush. Turned into typographic shapes, letterforms are steady and strong.

Overlapping strokes and terminals are characteristic for Amalta. It features powerful black shapes and vivid counterparts.

Swash alternates in both Latin and Cyrillic have their historical roots in Medieval scripts like Civilité and Skoropis, and others. Amalta was recently produced as a wood type and is used for letterpress printing as well as for digital typography.
