Birra Lambic was designed by Vera Evstafieva for the Birra Flight of fonts, commissioned by Darden Studio. 2020

Font license is available at Darden Studio and Adobe Fonts.

Inspired by the tasting menus offered by craft breweries in North America as “flights”, each style of Birra is separately designed by guest designers. Vera was delighted to be invited to the project and the task to design a Display playful typeface inspired by a specific type of beer — that's quite an unusual commission, isn't it!
Vera’s design is a hybrid of Medieval hands and Italic, based on her studies with profound Irish calligrapher Denis Brown and her further experiments in brewing the new style.

Birra Lambic is a pan-European character with flavours of Ireland, Germany, Belgium (and many others — all together slightly slanted) with inherent traces of Medieval Europe.

Birra Lambic received the prestigious Award of Excellence from Communication Arts magazine in 2022.

Quinn Keaveney at Darden Studio made a great font commercial for Birra Lambic release.
