Moscow University. 2021
The typeface was commissioned for the new visual identity of Moscow State University, offering a contemporary interpretation of the early 19th century University typefaces.
Vera started with extensive research into type specimens and books printed by the Moscow University Press from the time of the University’s foundation and throughout the 19th century, seeking the best text type to serve as the basis for the new typeface and the logotype.
A group of similar fonts used for typesetting among others at the University in 1830s and first seen in the font catalogue from 1826, proved to be a perfect starting point for the University’s new and highly authentic typographic identity.
The University regained its typographic voice!
